Introducing the It's A Sensory World Podcast, opening up the often misunderstood world of special needs youth. Hosts Ashley Deaver and Angela Stephens are passionate to promote inclusivity and preparedness for the highest degree of independence possible for children with all types of disabilities. Angela Stephens is the co-founder and executive director of the local Farmer's Branch, Texas, sensory gym, discussing her vision behind It's A Sensory World back in 2006. As the first open concept sensory recreational gym in Texas to work with this population, Director of Administrtion Ashley Deaver, and the team at ISW, offer a wide array of preschool to 18 programs, and additional programs designed for young adults up to 24 years old.

ISW offers seasonal camps, sensory curcuits, ISW Academy which includes preschool prep, and Interactive Kids Program which focuses on social skills training. We serve children with special needs and their families with customized, sensory-based programs to maximize developmental potential leading to independence and inclusion.

Care for this population is extremely expensive for parents. On average, it costs parents 1.4-2.4 million dollars to care for their children over their lifetime, well over the USDA average for neurotypical children averages $250,000.

It's A Sensory World believes parents shouldn't have to pay college tuition for their 3 year old, and strives to provide 20-40% of the tuition to attend these programs, which are available yearlong. Funding through sponsorships, monthly donations, and community partnerships makes these programs available for everyone who wants to explore this type of care. Teachers of the caliber necessary for this type of work are in high demand at It's a Sensory World.
