Certified Radicals: How Private School Accreditation Subverts Parents - Social Impact Podcast
Show Notes

Host and education activist Lynn Davenport and guest Jennifer Vermeulen discuss the radical agenda behind the largest private school accreditation organization in the U.S. and its impact on private school  education in Dallas and across the nation.

Standards are important, but do you know who sets those standards for your local private school? For decades, parents have looked to private school accreditation as a gold seal of approval. Years of planning go into the accrediting process. It is an expensive process, and one that must be regularly reviewed and renewed. Parents put a great deal of stock in a school that has met accreditation standards. But what was once a trusted and reliable indicator of a school’s academic standards and student achievement is becoming an instrument for radicalizing private school education and subverting parental control.

This in-depth discussion covers NAIS (National Accreditation of Independent Schools) and the policy decisions being forced on private schools operating under NAIS membership. Recent news reports revealed an anonymous group of moms, known as Undercover Mothers, have witnessed the effects of NAIS policy on their private schools and are exposing the radical sexualization of young children through disturbing curriculum content. Undercover Mothers also report an alarming reduction in administrative transparency, including enrollment contracts that threated families with expulsion if they rock the boat.

Jennifer Vermeulen has worked in education for 20 years, and she is a wealth of information on education policy. Her experience includes working in private schools, homeschool co-ops, training teachers, and developing curriculum. Jennifer’s background includes ethics and public policy, policy research, and professional speech writing. She currently homeschools her four children, ages 11, 13, 16, and 17.
