What Does The Workplace Need to Know About Special Needs Employment? It's A Sensory World Podcast
Director of Administration Ashley Deaver and Executive Director/Lead Teacher Angela Stephens are back with another revelatory discussion about special needs education from 2-18, and workplace-ready clients on the autism spectrum.
All the youth at It's A Sensory World Sensory Gym have a need for movement. This is called a 'sensory diet' and occupational therapists actually prescribe movements that help regulate their need for expression, providing a release for emotions and responses to stimulation.
Every single child doesn't feel the same way every day. It's no different for children on the autism spectrum, but they need to learn how to express themselves. Movement is vital. At It's a Sensory World, the focus is on preparation for community-based inclusion opportunities.
What do employers need to understand about workforce readiness, and how do we prepare to support this community through employment and mentorship? Listen in to get excited about the opportunities!
It's A Sensory World believes parents shouldn't have to pay college tuition for their 3 year old, and strives to provide 20-40% of the tuition to attend these programs, which are available yearlong. Funding through sponsorships, monthly donations, and community partnerships makes these programs available for everyone who wants to explore this type of care. Teachers of the caliber necessary for this type of work are in high demand at It's a Sensory World. Listen in to learn how to support this amazing organization, and share this podcast with your friends.
