Dallas homelessness is a BIG issue, will fines help? New Dallas ordinances include $500 fines for sitting on the curb. Loitering, panhandling - who will be effected by this? One of the goals of this Dallas ordinance is to conform with 2030 goals to end pedestrian traffic for good, and reduce pedestrian accidents by 50%.
City Marshalls can now find resources for homeless panhandlers. Some feel they are criminalizing poverty. According to the city, most accidents happen on a small number of streets. Vision Zero is a plan for pedestrian safety, including safety education, implementing lower speed limits, adding more speed bumps and more.
